When reinventing technical and compliance training, start with the near misses, problems with safety violations, issues with non-compliance, legal penalties, etc.
How do you make technical and compliance training a good learning and discovery experience for the learners?
When reinventing technical and compliance training, start with the near misses, problems with safety violations, issues with non-compliance, legal penalties and the like. Present these situations, then ask
a. "What is the impact of this particular situation to you and your work?"
b. "Why are these rules, policies or legislations important?"
c. "Which specific rule, policy or legislation do you relate the most?"
Asking these questions, instead of just "telling" or lecturing them about the topic, allows the learners to bring in their personal experiences and reflect on the importance of the lessons.
This way, learning becomes an enriching and meaningful experience.
