Situation

The situation is where you start. You learn by dealing with real-life work situations. Provide a short description of the situation for the learners to work on. Along the way, you will impact results.
Sitches are situations, jams, issues, errors, gaps, troubles, stoppages and many others to fix and solve. They are also opportunities to improve, grow, expand, and introduce better, faster and cheaper ways to get the desired results.
What is your Situation and Question?
Jenn and her OD team have been recently moved into an open workspace environment. The team gets along well and is excited about the recent change. Over the past couple of weeks they have come up with some solutions to difficult challenges they were pondering. However, they have been having difficulty managing timelines and staying on top of the finer details of some projects. The team is also finding that they are taking a lot more work home since the change.
What's the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is how to maintain the productivity in the department without inhibiting the great ideas and collaboration that is happening. The action plan we are looking for is practical tips or guidelines for the team to enable them to work together productively while not compromising their ability to do concentrated, deep work. The employer has a small budget available to help with necessary resources but is not open to moving back to the closed-office environment. The solutions must be inclusive, sustainable, cost-effective and promote the health of the team.
What's the objective?
The results I would like to see are: - increase in the staff engagement scores - trust, collaboration and respect for each other is demonstrated - increase in productivity as evidenced by meeting project time, cost and quality goals - increase in the number of innovative ideas or issues proactively resolved by the team due to increased collaboration on problem-solving
