Shifts in hourly staffing in a unionized, mixed manufacturing and warehouse operation have led to many experienced production line operators moving to the warehouse to chase overtime hours. Production lines are left with gaps in key positions with limited backups and an inadequate training system to get new people up to speed quickly.

Meeting rooms are always challenging to find. Every room has been assigned a Outlook calendar and resource privileges. New room technology EVOKO has been implemented but uptake has been poor. Staff don't realize there is a step past just booking it in Outlook. Once at the room, one must push the button in the middle of the panel (like iPAD) to let the room know you are there.

What's the Situation?
A fundamental requirement of work at Heritage Valley is that employees are fit for duty when they present themselves for work and that the workplace is free from the inappropriate use of alcohol and/or other drugs and/or otherwise unfit for duty based on demonstrated behavior(s).
When an employee demonstrates inappropriate behavior or performance and/oror is involved in an incident that gives rise to concern about fitness for duty, Heritage Valley has a policy and process that is to be followed. |
What's the Situation?
Employees ‘travel’ for hot beverages and snacks. They ride several elevators and escalators, then wait in lines to buy these things. Time is lost but people want coffee and hot water for tea. Instant coffee machines have been installed on each of the 40 floors, but they are not as popular as the well-known chain coffee and pastry shops available to anyone who wants to travel to lower levels of the building (or to the shops outside of it).

Jenn and her OD team have been recently moved into an open workspace environment. The team gets along well and is excited about the recent change. Over the past couple of weeks they have come up with some solutions to difficult challenges they were pondering. However, they have been having difficulty managing timelines and staying on top of the finer details of some projects. The team is also finding that they are taking a lot more work home since the change.
